These workshops are taught in 2 modules and taught with a special emphasis on acquiring practical skills.
Your helpers will be taught and guided by our experienced and qualified midwife and pediatric nurse specialised in the infant care. You can choose to send your helpers for one of the 2 modules or both modules. There will be practical and hands on during the class, and certificate will be given out to your helpers for the attendance and completion of the workshop.
Course Outline:
Module 1 : 3 hours on Newborn and Baby Care
During the class, your maid will learn:- * how to change a diaper, using both cotton and disposable diapers * the equipment used for a baby bath * the correct bath water temperature * how to bath a baby * the different types of formula * the different methods of sterilization of bottles and equipment * how to make up a feed * how to feed the baby correctly * a baby’s usual sleep and wake patterns * safe positions for sleeping * why babies cry and tips for dealing with a crying baby * different ways of correctly holding the baby * how to burp the baby * how to recognize common problems of a baby and their associated remedies * home preparation of solid food * safe solid food and feeding tips
Module II : 4 hours on First Aid & Emergency Procedures for the Infant
During the class, your maid will learn:-
* how to recognise an emergency situation * how to get help in an emergency situation * what goes into a First Aid Kit * how to recognise a fever and take an infant’s temperature * how to recognise choking and give emergency treatment * how to treat cuts and bleeding * how to recognise a fracture and how to treat it * how to recognise and treat childhood injuries, including suffocation, burns, poisoning, bites, stings and falls * how to recognise and treat shock * general tips for safety in the home, including the kitchen, bathroom and outdoors * how to identify potential accidents and prevent them * safe methods of traveling with infant * how to give mouth to mouth resuscitation * how to do cardio pulmonary resuscitation
